DME-modules

A wide variety of practice materials is available in the DME. These modules are divided in the categories Secundary Education and Undergraduate. The category Secundary Education is further divided in Algebra, Geometry and Number. Moreover, many complete lessons are available. These can be used as addition to or even as replacement for the regular text book. This web page gives an overview of the complete lessons and offers manuals for these lessons.

Practice materials

Practice materials are available on many different topics and for students of many different ages and levels. Moreover, for DME-members many of these activities are easy to adjust by the teacher. In the same environment, extra modules will then become available to the students of the school.

Teaching sequences

Teaching sequence Negative numbers
This teaching sequence originates from the Wismaat project. The seven modules can replace (parts of) chapters from the text books during the first year in secundary school (age 12/13).
In the first module the thermometer is used as model. The students put negative numbers on a vertical number line. Next they make several computations using jumps on the number line.
In the subsequent modules the students make all kinds of computations using the model of the witch. The final module consists of five selftests.

Teaching sequence Linear equations
This module originates from the DPICT-project. The module is suitable for students of age 13/14. In the module students study linear equations and the most important way to solve these, the balance method.

For this module a teacher manual is available in Dutch.

Teaching sequence Quadratic equations
This module originates from the DPICT-project. The module is suitable for students of age 13/14. In the module students study quadratic equations and several techniques to solve these, such as reducing to zero and the product-sum-method.

Teaching sequence Meaningful lines
This module originates from the DPICT-project. The module is suitable for students of age 13/14. The module is about several special lines in the plane, such as the perpendicular bisector, angle bisector, median and altitude. Also attention is paid to geometrical constructions in which these lines play a role.

Teaching sequence Undergraduate mathematics 
This material has been developed to be used during a mathematics summer course for beginning chemistry students, but it is also very suitable as remedial material in the final grades of secundary school. There are modules on the topics Algebraic skills, Functions, Trigonometry, Differentiation, Exponents & logarithms, Integration en Complex numbers. Each module contains theory on the topic and a large number of exercises.

Teaching sequence Function and Arrow chain 
This teaching sequence is about the concept of functions and is suitable for students of age 13/14. The teaching sequence covers about eight lessons, four of which take place in a computer lab. As homework, the students will also have to work with the computer at home. The teaching material contains a paper workbook and a digital workbook.
